A MANAGEMENT MODEL
The Conservatori del Liceu was originally financed
by donations from the members of the Sociedad Dramática
de Aficionados, and later by the contributions from the Gran
Teatro del Liceu. Other funding has been the students'
tuition and the donations of personalities or institutions,
which have transformed their passion for music into economical
help and support of young talents. Also the different administrations
have realized successfully several projects of the Conservatory.
Since 1999, with Maria Serrat i Martín
joining the directive team, a new branch in the administration
of the institution was created: the general management. The
establishment of a new pedagogic and administrative project
means a professional institutional management and evidences
the Conservatory's desire of adapting to the ongoing changes
of the 21 st Century.
Along these 165 years of history, the Conservatory has been
presided by different personalities in the social life of Barcelona
and Catalonia. All of them based their efforts in the growth
of one of the Catalonian institutions with more prestige and
tradition:
Manuel Gibert
i Sans (founder and first president) (1837-1874)
Joaquim
Gibert (1874-1891)
Joaquim Cabirol (1892-1894)
Camilo
Fabra i Fontanills, marquis of Alella (1894-1902)
Luis
Sagnier Nadal (1902-1911)
Antonio J. Bastinos
(1911-1922)
Lluís Lamaña
i Arenas (1922-1932)
Fernando Valls Taberner
(1932-1942)
Fèlix Fages Vilà (1942-1952)
Manuel
de Jaumar i de Bofarull (1952-1980)
Antonio
Corbella Torner (1981-1983)
Manuel Sancho Vecino
(1983-1990)
Manuel Vallribera
Mir (1991-2000)
Rafael de Gispert Pastor
(2000)
During these 165 years of
history, the Conservatori
Superior de Música del Liceu has remained
faithful to the original spirit of its founders: to be
an entity with no lucrative purpose with the primary objective
of diffusing and promoting music culture in Spain.
